Papers : of Esther Holliday Green, 1741-1990 (bulk 1870-1975).

This collection consists of six series: correspondence, literary productions, printed material, financial documents, women's auxiliary of the American Legion, and Green family papers. The correspondence series contains letters to and from Esther Green. Included are letters from Robert Rutledge, a youth whom she helped secure a DuPont scholarship to the University of Virginia. While in college he updated her on his progress. Approximately half of the collection concerns the Green family. Several folders deal with an estate for which her father, Richard Mayger Green, was the executor. The Green family papers also contain genealogical information relating to the Green, Mayger, and Muir families. There are a few pieces relating to family businesses: Green and Brothers Furniture Company and the Green Mansion House Hotel.
